Senior Cat Food

As cats age, their dietary needs change. The best senior cat food should be easy to digest, high in quality animal protein, and balanced with the right vitamins and minerals. All Scrumbles recipes are designed with digestive health in mind and are suitable for all life stages, including senior cats. Since older cats have slower metabolisms, it’s important to monitor their weight to avoid obesity.

Wet food can be a great option for senior cats, especially as dental issues become more common with age. The soft texture is easier to eat, and the extra moisture helps keep cats hydrated and supports kidney health. If your senior cat prefers dry food, you can soften the kibble with warm water or mix in some wet food for added variety and moisture.

Most senior cats do well eating twice a day, just like adult cats. Since metabolism slows with age, keep an eye on portion sizes and adjust feeding amounts to maintain a healthy weight and body condition.

Cats are generally considered senior from around 7 years old. From this stage, metabolism slows and easy-to-digest food becomes especially important.
